Getting Involved

We are so excited about your interest in getting involved in what God is doing here at Morgan Grace! We have been praying for people to join us that have a heart to truly be the heart, hands and feet of Jesus here in Morgan County and beyond. We invite you to join us for any and all worship, fellowship, Bible study, and ministry opportunities that Morgan Grace is involved in. We believe that you will be blessed and so will we to have you participate with us in God’s work. If you are looking for a place to call your church home, we will join you in prayer as you consider church membership with this local body.

 Steps for Membership

We at Morgan Grace Fellowship, would like to invite you to prayerfully consider the steps of
connecting with our family as we seek to connect with God and His purposes for our lives. We realize
that this is an important decision and that you might have questions such as, “How do I become a
Christian? or “How can I become a member? These are great questions that have simple but
important answers. We want to answer these questions and others you might have so feel free to ask
pastor Jeff or other members of MGF. You may also like Newcomers class offered every first Sunday of
the month during Sunday School hour where you can learn more about what membership means and
the process of joining this local body.

The first and most important step is connecting with God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. We
are all sinners in need of God’s forgiveness. God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our us, taking the
penalty of our sins upon Him, once for all. When we trust Jesus to save us from our sins, we enter into
a new relationship with God, connected with Him through a spiritual birth as His children. This
newness or rebirth is the first and most important step to church membership.
The second step of church membership is believer’s baptism by immersion and it should always follow
a decision to trust Jesus for salvation. Baptism is a step of obedience that is an external testimony of an
internal heart change. Baptism is a public statement of faith that connects the new believer, first to God
and secondly to the local body. Romans 6:4
The third step to membership has to do with being in agreement with our core beliefs about God, His
kingdom and our relationship with Him. Standing together in one accord makes our connections strong.

In review, Morgan Grace has three simple steps for membership:

1) Salvation

2) Baptism by immersion

3) Agreement in core beliefs

Please take some time and read through our core beliefs. These statements are summaries from the Baptist Faith and Message. If you would like the full text we have a booklet available upon request.

 Our Core Beliefs:

The Trinity
We believe that there is only one, true and living God and that He is one in three- God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1, 2:7; John 1; 1-18, 29; 14:16-17, 26

The Deity and Lordship of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and the second part of the Trinity. Philippians 2:5-11

 The Bible
The Bible is the sole authority and supreme standard for all human conduct, creeds and religious opinions. The Bible is the complete, inerrant and infallible Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Salvation by Grace Alone through Faith Alone

Salvation comes by God’s grace, through faith. It is a gift of God and cannot be earned. Ephesians 2:8-9

Priesthood of the Believer

There is only one mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ. All persons are equal before God, have direct access to God through prayer and are directly responsible to God for their actions. 1 Timothy 2:5, Revelation 1:5-6

Autonomy of the Local Church

The head of the church is Jesus Christ and the local church is independent of any outside control.
Matthew 18:15-17;Acts 13;1-3; 1 Corinthians 5:1-13; 2 Corinthians 8&9

Believer’s Baptism by Immersion

Baptism is the first of two ordinances of the church and follows salvation. A church of Biblical doctrine administers it with immersion being the only Biblical and acceptable mode. It is a step of obedience, an eternal symbol of an inward reality and a public statement of faith.

Romans 6:4

The Lord’s Supper

The Lord’s Supper, or communion of the Saints, is the second ordinance of the church. Its practice and elements symbolize the body and blood of Jesus Christ. We observe it in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice for us. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Stewardship

God is the source of all blessings and is the owner of all things. Christians, in accordance with the Scripture, are to support the ongoing work of the local church and missions through their regular tithes and offerings.
Malachi 3:8-12; 1 Corinthians 4:1-2;6:19-20

Separation of Church and State
The state will not exercise any control over the church nor will the church assert any legislative control over the government. Matthew 22:15-22

Evangelism of the World is the Supreme Task of the Church
It is the responsibility of every Christian and church to spread the gospel of Christ. Matthew 28:19-20

The Eternal Security of all believers
Once received, there is nothing that can take away the gift of salvation. 1 Peter 1:5; John 10:28-29

The Necessity of the New Birth
All men are sinners and are in need of God’s forgiveness. The new birth gives spiritual life to the spiritually dead. It redeems a soul from hell, initiates a personal relationship with God and is simultaneous with the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. John 3:3;5;7
